AfWID is a flagship initiative of former South African First Lady, H.E Zanele Dlamini Mbeki, which is an inclusive platform known for uniting African women from diverse backgrounds for a transformative five-day event dedicated to discussing women’s issues of continental significance.
AfWID 2025 will host over 1000 women from all walks of life in Johannesburg to converse, share and amplify the voices of African women, providing a unique space to launch innovative ideas that pave the way for a better future, and most importantly ensuring that the African woman’s voice is amplified and captured in the 69th session on the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration. The week-long dialogue will feature engaging presentations, interactive panel discussions, and practical workshops, offering participants an empowering environment to share, learn, and network.
Wfac is also pleased to announce that on Wednesday, 29 January 2025, she will lead and curate a side event on Women, Peace & Security, drawing on the work Wfac does with women and feminist movements in the Central African Region on peace and security.
AfWID is for every African woman and girl, “It stands as a beacon of hope and progress, aiming to foster intergenerational solidarity and empower African women to make impactful changes within their communities” said Wfac ED, Dr. Zoneziwoh Mbondgulo-Wondieh
To Céline Ngon-Baba Noufere, “This forum serves as a catalyst for change, providing African women the platform to share their unique perspectives and innovative solutions.”
