COP28: Uniting Voices & Shaping a Greener Future for our Planet

“Reflecting on my experience at COP28 in Dubai, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement for what lies ahead. The conference was a melting pot of fresh ideas, crucial discussions, and a clear focus on the power of youth, gender equality, and financial access” Leinyuy Rosette, Wfac Delegate to the COP28

The energy and determination I witnessed among my peers at the conference left an indelible mark
on me. It was abundantly clear that the critical issues of our time—renewable energy, gender equality, and financial inclusion—demand our attention and our action.

The conference underscored the vital role that young people like myself must play in shaping our
future. Our discussions were charged with the urgency of the climate crisis and the solutions that lie within our grasp. From conversations about innovative climate solutions to the need for renewable energy, it was evident that our generation is poised to lead the charge towards sustainable future.

Equally resonant was the call for gender equality. The need to amplify the voices of women, create pathways for leadership, and dismantle age-old disparities was made strikingly clear. The resounding message was of solidarity and action—a reminder that gender justice is a fundamental building block for collective progress.

The intersection of finance and climate action also loomed large. The dialogues on inclusive financing and sustainable investments set the stage for rethinking how financial systems can serve environmental goals. It became evident that the worlds of finance and climate action are inextricably linked.

As I take the learnings from COP28 with me, I feel a deep responsibility to turn this knowledge into action. I’m resolved to champion innovative grassroots initiatives, advocate for equitable policies, and work towards reshaping financial access for all. This experience has bolstered my conviction that change starts from within, and I'm committed to being a part of that change.

In essence, COP28 wasn’t just a conference; it was a call to action. It served as a steadfast reminder
that we, as young leaders, have the potential and the responsibility to lead the change towards a better, more equitable world. From renewable energy initiatives to advocacy for gender parity and reshaping financial access, it's clear that there’s much work to be done.

However, it’s work that I’m prepared to undertake as I forge ahead, driven by the transformative experiences from COP28. With the knowledge and connections gained at COP28, I’m eager to collaborate with like-minded individuals and our organisation to drive change and keep these important conversations alive in both local and global forums. This experience has set the stage for continued learning, networking, and advocacy in the realms of environmental sustainability, gender equality, and equitable financial systems. Working in collaboration with diverse stakeholders, I aim to translate the insights gained at COP28 into actionable initiatives, amplifying youth voices, promoting gender-inclusive policies, and fostering sustainable financial mechanisms for the benefit of communities and the planet.
