Wfac in pursuit of quality SRH services in Cameroon

Wfac in partnership with Triggerise officially launched the #MyHealthFirst campaign in Yaounde, Cameroon under the umbrella of the OPTions Initiative to impart and provide adolescent girls and young women below the age of 24y with free counseling, contraception and family planning methods in order to support and promote access to quality health care services in Cameroon.

Working in partnership with registered health clinics and hospitals across the city of Yaounde, Wfac seeks to raise the awareness of over 10,000 adolescent girls and young women on the need to make informed and healthy sexual and reproductive decisions regarding their lives and wellbeing.

With the technology and expertise of Triggerise, Wfac’s joint implementation partner, Wfac has partnered with over 10 health centres, clinics and hospitals throughout Yaounde for the effective implementation of the campaign. So far, over 30 mobilizers and 25 service providers and health personnels have been recruited, trained and deployed to ensure quality delivery of service in a safe and professional environment.

The TIKO Platform by Triggerise provides the technology required for the effective enrollment of adolescent girls and young women who wish to take up a service at a partnered clinic either through a Self-Enrollment option by texting “AE” to 8557 or through the Tiko Explore App managed by the mobilizers and service providers. After an enrollment, the adolescent or young woman is then referred either by an automated response through the self enrollment method or mobilizer through the physical enrolment service to a referral center or partner clinic where the young girl freely accesses her desired service of choice. In the absence of the young girl having access to an android or smartphone technology, there is a third option of Tiko Cards made available in cases of network failures, no smartphones and limited access to other technologies. With the Tiko Card, the young girl can equally enjoy same privileges as any other with a smartphone as the Tiko Card becomes her smartphone, configured only to be used by one user only, to ensure safety and security of the benefactor.

Wfac’s efforts in promoting access to quality health care services for all adolescents and young women through the #MyHealthFirst campaign is unrivaled with the need of ensuring the proper training of all personnel related to the project, and as such; health and service providers, alongside mobilizers receive the required training to ensure utmost professionalism and ethical dissemination of their said functions.

The #MyHealthFirst campaign is underwent in Yaounde and free to all adolescent girl and young woman below 24yrs old.
